Knowledge Unlimited, Inc. is a small,
independent, woman-owned company based in Madison,
Wisconsin. It was founded in 1983 by Judith Laitman, a
former teacher. Her experiences teaching in a
disadvantaged section of Brooklyn, New York, helped form
the mission of Knowledge Unlimited. That mission is to
assist teachers in making knowledge accessible to
students of all ages and backgrounds and to assist
teachers in creating an inclusive
classroom.

lives of Brazilian street kids. In Brazil, there are an estimated 7 million
street children. They suffer every imaginable form of
abuse, neglect, violence and exploitation. The average
survival for street kids is only three to four years.
These children desperately
need a new beginning.
8. Health Unlimited
Health Unlimited was founded
in August 1984 by a group of British aid workers to meet
the gap in the provision of medical aid to people
affected by prolonged and complex conflicts. Health
Unlimited started its first action in southern
Afghanistan in the same year. Most assistance in war-torn
areas is focused on emergency relief which, essential
though it is, does not address long term needs and, more
importantly does not invest in the potential of local
people to take control of their lives.
